Reactivity Program FAQs
-
Reactive behavior occurs when a dog overreacts to certain stimuli, such as other dogs, people, or specific environments, often out of fear, excitement, or frustration. This can include barking, lunging, or growling.
Aggression, on the other hand, involves intentional, often harmful behaviors like biting or snapping, typically meant to threaten or harm. While reactivity can sometimes escalate into aggression, the two are not the same, and each requires different approaches for management and treatment.
-
This program focuses on behaviors like lunging, barking, growling, or excessive fearfulness around other dogs, people, or in specific environments.
-
Yes, the Reactive Programs can be adapted for dogs with aggression. The training plan will be slightly modified to address the specific triggers and behaviors associated with aggression, ensuring a safe and effective approach to behavior modification.
-
Yes, we work with dogs that have a history of biting. Our approach focuses on understanding the underlying causes of the behavior and creating a customized plan to address and manage it effectively. Safety and rehabilitation are our top priorities.
-
Behavior lessons often cost more due to the specialized nature of the work, requiring deep expertise in canine behavior, learning theory, and customized training plans. The time investment is greater as trainers assess the dog's unique issues, develop tailored strategies, and provide ongoing support. Additionally, behavior modification involves specialized equipment and resources and the potential risks associated with handling aggressive or reactive behaviors necessitate a higher level of skill and caution. This comprehensive, expert-driven approach accounts for the increased cost.
